Sound of Music Weekend

Met Courtney and Tim and Azure and Zarah at Sycamore School around 6:00. Just before I got there I stopped at the dollar store at 86th and Michigan and got Pop rocks, 2 dart pistols, silly putty and some mike and ikes  for the girls.

We went in the School. I had extra tickets for Luce and Roger and Dawn. I wasn’t sure how I was going to meet up with them.

The doors were to open at 6:30 and the play was to start at 7:00. I saw Yudi right when I first walked in.

Then I saw Luce right away. We went down to the cafeteria and sat down and waited for the doors to open.

A few minutes later Roger and Dawn and their two sons walked in.  And then Deeya.

The doors opened about 10 minutes later  and we went in and sat down.

We ended up being in two different groups though.

Azure gave Brooklynn a bouquet of flowers afterwards.

The play was really entertaining. Brooklynn did a great job. She even said a line or two for the kids that got mixed up.  Everyone enjoyed it… Big Standing Ovation… Lots of fun.

When we got out around 9:30 or so. Zarah said that she was hungry.

I sang the songs from the play on the way back. “Do-rae-mi”,  “My Favorite Things”, “Edelweiss”, “Climb Every Mountain” “So Long Farewell”

The girls seemed to be interested. They didn’t stop me anyway. Maybe they were just being polite.

I told Azure and Zarah that “The Sound of Music” with Julie Andrews was my Mothers favorite movie. I had seen it many  times when I was little.

We stopped at Taco Bell on HWY 32. They got sprites and Cheese rollups.

We got back to the house Zarah asked me to carry her into the house. Deeya and Brooklynn showed up about one minute later. We got inside Zarah sat on the Lounge chair and Azure turned on MineCraft and laid on the mattress. I put the Movie “HOP” on. They both pretty much fell to sleep immediately. I laid down and tried to sleep but couldn’t I got up for a couple of hours.

Brooklynn came down first thing in the morning  ( about 7:30). They all started playing Minecraft. I was halfway surprised. I haven’t really heard Azure mention Minecraft  for several months.

They ate Canloupe and Strawberries. Brooklynn wanted some soup. So then all three of them wanted soup. So I nuked some Chicken and Dumplings soup for the 3 of them.

They played Chutes and Ladders in the living room.It was still pretty early I kept telling them to  quiet down because Deeya was still crashed out upstairs. Frank is in Texas learning how to do a medical procedure.

The girls played outside with Yudi while  got on the treadmill for a half hour. Deeya came down and sat on the stairs we talked for about 45 minutes.

I went outside and oddly enough Azure and Zarah were each carrying a picture frame. I walked over and  asked them what they had. Zarah handed me the one she had been holding They were each holding the pictures of  them just born in the hospital laying on my chest.

Yudi said; “Zarah will not put hers down”..I said where did you find those?

They said that they found them out in the barn.

We went to Alexanders in Cicero, All of the girls got Ice Cream. I just had a cup of coffee that I brought.

We got back to the house and we put in a “Barbie Spy” movie. They laid on the mattress and covered up. They were all cold from the Ice Cream. Zarah popped the bottom tip of the cone into her mouth just as we walked down the stairs. I said “You ate all of that?”. “Yes” she said. I was very surprised. The girls giggled all through the movie. In fact they all laughed ALOT this weekend.

Yudi made Blue apron and I made Beans and Vegetable soup.

Zarah and Yudi went to the store for Deeya. Buku and Azure played minecraft. Azure figured out how to turn Ocelots into Cats. She was excited about it and made 15-16 cats in Minecraft.

I wanted to get to bed earlier than we usually do because I wanted them to be up and at’em for Church in the morning. I also told Azure that for sure we had to work on the paintings for Grandma Missy’s house tomorrow.

Yudi, Azure and Zarah sat down in the basement in the dark while Azure gave them all a tour of the Minecraft world she had built.

After Yudi left the 3 off us laid down on the mattress and I put in the New Open Season Movie. The girls made it about 1/2 hour and fell asleep. I laid there and slept off and on until 2:00 am and then went to my mattress.

Sunday.

I got up at 9:00. Zarah got up about the same time. I made a cup of coffee. Azure didn’t want to get up.I flicked the lights on and off several time and gently told her that the most important way  we can start each day is to have a good attitude. Finally she sat up. I made them each a bowl of cereal. After they got dressed they both played minecraft a little more.

 

I drove Deeyas car, deeya rode passenger and the 3 girls sat in the back seat it is foggy and about 55 degrees out.

Made made it to our seats about 1 minute before church started.

After Church I talked to the Church Guitar Player Tim Conrad.

I was proud of her for being able to pick out the guitar solo without being able to see what was going on.

Tim had been sitting in the row in front of me today. His wife played Acoustic guitar this morning and his son took the electric guitar duties today. To top it off his daughter was playing drums.  Crazy…..I told him he has his own built in band.

I told  him about how I am trying to keep Azure and Zarah interested in music.

After Church was over Brooklynn and Azure went over to talk to the Preacher.

Steve and Diane walked up and we talked a little. Deeya asked them if they wanted to go get Mexican with us. They said sure. We drove to Cicero and got a table at La Cascada

We all had a nice Time.

 Zarah got a cheese quesadilla but she didn’t like her fries. Azure got a soft taco and beans.

We stayed there for about an hour talking and catching up on everything.We talked about Shawn Dietzen, Diane saw him last night,  and Joey, her funeral is today.. sadly.

Steve and Diane offered to pay for lunch but Deeya wasn’t having it, so when the waitress came over after lunch Deeya told our waitress in Spanish that she was paying and that there would be only one check. Steve and Diane didn’t know what she was saying. I didn’t know what she was saying either, at first but when I heard her say “En Secrato” (in secret) I knew what she was up to.  It cracked me up.

I told the girls when we got back they had to take a bath.

I filled up the Jacuzzi all three girls got in the tub for almost an hour and a half. I am not sure they would have ever gotten out, finally I went upstairs and told ’em, vamanous!

I knew at this point we weren’t going to get the paintings done. So I am going to get some paint and ideas for Azure before she comes over next time so that we will be ready.

They got out and dressed around 3:00. I gave each of them a packet of Pop Rocks. They played minecraft for a few more minutes and then Buku had to go do homework.

Brooklynn had to do some homework for School. She was a little bummed that she couldn’t play with Azure and Zarah more. All of them had been giggling all weekend. It was nice. No disagreements at all this weekend.

Deeya and Brooklynn went to Barnes and Noble to study. Azure and Zarah were getting along great playing Minecraft on separate laptops.  Azure and I started talking about Dance lessons.

She said she wanted to go to a dance school in New York. I told her that would be nice but we need to start her out here first. New York would be very tough both mentally and physically for most people. There would be a lot of competition. And a lot of ego’s probably.

I told her that starting next time she comes over I will help her to practice for 30-45 minutes each day she is here. We are also going to get back to piano, or guitar too. She agreed. She said she wants someone to push her.

Zarah started crying when I told her that we had to start packing up to go. I felt bad for the lil girl. She had been playing all by her self. quietly listening to Azure and I talk for the last hour.

We finally got packed up and left. It seemed strange outside. It was 6:15 and we were getting

Big Clouds, Bright Sunlight, and Big Fat Florida Style Rain Drops all at the same time.

Plus, because of daylight savings time last night it seemed earlier than it really was.

Is this really Indiana?

We saw a big rainbow on the way to meet Courtney at 7:00 P.M.

While I drove I told Azure and Zarah about a Readers Digest article I had read 25-30 years ago and had never forgotten. A small child had been outside. There was a small patch of oil laying in a puddle in the driveway. The reflection in the puddle combined with sunlight reflected rainbow colors back to the child….. The child, amazed,  ran back into the house in a panic,  yelling “Daddy, Daddy, there is a dead rainbow in the driveway!!!”. Azure thought that was HILARIOUS……

We got to Starbucks, and went inside. I got two pink cake pops for the girls.  Courtney showed up a few minutes later in the White Expedition… I think it is.  She asked me If I had come up with any vacation plans during spring break… I told her no… not as of yet.

I gave the girls a hug and a smooch and drove back.
