Last night at around 6:00 p.m Deeya and Brooklynn and I met Courtney, Azure, and Zarah at Clay Terrace. The reason was; to let Azure get her ears pierced.
About a year and a half ago while I was away I was talking to Azure on the phone and she asked me if she could get her ears pierced. I secretly was pained slightly by this request because it was obvious that my little girl was getting bigger and moving on from “My Little Pony” and “Toy Story”. But I didn’t want to say no just because it made me uncomfortable. I want her to do the things that are appropriate for her age.
I also felt a pain because I was continually missing the little “milestones” in her life. So I made a deal with her. I told her that we would do that when I got home. Unfortunatelty I didn’t know just how long it would be before I got home.
Azure, being the patient little girl that she is waited, and waited. Last night I was able to make good on my promise. Courtney got her in the car with out telling her what she was going to do.
When we met them at “Claires” at Clay Terrace, and we were all there she started to figure it out.
She was really excited and a little nervous. She asked me to take her to the restroom next door at Cold Stone Creamery. She had to go twice within 10 minutes.
While we were alone at the Ice Cream Store I told her that I am sorry that she had to wait so long. And that she has been a good girl waiting so patiently. I told her that I love her and I want to make good on all my promises to her. I told her I was happy for her and told her not to be nervous. I said that it will feel like getting a shot at the doctors office. ( The girl at Claires said it wouldn’t even that bad )
Anyway we made it back and she got in the chair and was brave and quiet.
Frank, Zarah, Deeya, Brooklynn, Courtney and Me. All watched as her new
earrings were popped in. She didn’t even flinch. I was proud of my big
girl and we all took pics and video.
During this whole time Zarah wanted me to hold her. and she didn’t want me to put her down.( She had a toy camera that showed a fake screen of things she was taking pictures of ) she took my picture and then turned the camera around to show me the result and said “You’re a puppy”….I about died laughing. She is so funny.
Then as we were all going to go our separate ways I asked Courtney if
she wanted to get a coke or something. We walked over to Panera Bread.
Deeya and Courtney decided to walk over to some store for a minute while
the girls and I hung out. Zarah wanted to get her own drink out of the
dispenser of course. We sat at a table and we took pics of each other
with the camera I brought. I asked Azure if she was still living at
Grandma’s. She paused for a second and looked down and then said “daddy
why can’t I go to school over by our house?”
I said
“Azure that is a good question.” We visited for about 30 minutes and
talked about her new earrings and school. And her coming over this
weekend. Finally Courtney and Deeya came back and it was time to go.
Zarah kept reaching up to me and grabbing me and saying ” I wanna go
with you Daddy”. I felt sad. I told her that she would be coming over in
a couple of days. She said this 5 – 6 different times in a span of 5
minutes.
I was sad when they left.

I called Azure at 4:00 p.m.after school and asked her if everyone was excited about her earrings. She said yes. Her friend Morgan was really surprised. I said make sure you keep your ears clean so they don’t get infected. She said she would be careful.
Azure said out of the blue. “Daddy I am excited about this weekend.” I said why? she said “Because I get to come over this weekend” She said what are we are gonna do? I said “We will do some of the Science experiments for kids I saw in a book the other day. We are gonna make homemade cotton candy. And we are going to go to Symphony on the Prairie “. She said “I Love that place”.
That made me smile and happy. I love my punkins…………………..I can’t wait for Saturday!!!
