Let’s Celebrate – Disney on Ice

I drove to Missy and Dannys house in Brownsburg to meet Courtney and get the girls. I arrived at 5:45 P.M. It is about 15 degrees out and gray. Missy and Danny were not home so I sat in the car and listened to the radio.

Courtney pulled up around 6:00 and the girls got in the car. We took 74 to 10th street and drove across to downtown. While I drove I asked the girls about school and stuff. I congratulated Zarah on completing her first 100 days school today.

I had one ear on political radio. Zarah asked me if I would turn it off and play some Taylor Swift. I said sure.

We paid 10.00 for parking and walked toward Bankers life. it was kind of windy and the girls both said that they were cold.

When we got in I saw a friend of mine in the entrance line and I went over and said “Hi”

We sat in the 10th Row of Section 14. We were kind of on the corner of the rink.

Zarah sat on my lap the entire show. We used her seat to put our coats in it.

Zarah got super excited every time a new character would come out. She would say their name real excitedly.

I had fun watching the excitement on her face. Both girls mentioned over and over that they wanted to try Ice Skating.

Again the toys and treats were outragesly priced. A snow cone in a plastic cup was 12.00 dollars and a bag of Cotton candy with a carboard crown (think burger king) was also 12.00 Dollars.

Right before Intermission I went up and got two pretzels and one pepsi for the girls. 16.00 Dollars.

All 3 of us really enjoyed the show and were amazed at the skating talent of the performers.

At the end of each “Skit” Mickey and the rest of the performers would disappear beahind a curtain, And then Mickey would pop back out a few seconds later in a different costume.

Zarah leaned over to me and said. I’ll bet there is more than one Mickey.

I thought that was a very estute observation for a 6 year old.

When the wicked witch from Snow White tried to give Mickey a delicious (poison) apple to eat, All the kids in the audience yelled.. NOOOOOOO… It made me smile.

Towards the end of the show, the characters from Toy Story came out. The music was a re-make of “The Boys are back in town”, Saying instead, “The TOYS are back in town.

Azure and Zarah loved it. There was one Character that looked sort of like the TROLL toys from the 1970’s

Azure laughed and laughed at that one.

When the show was over we bolted up the stairs towards the lobby.

Chad Webb from Roche popped out and shook my hand. It was nice to see him.

Courtney offered to meet me at Starbucks at 96th and Michigan. Azure and I talked the whole way back, Zarah fell promptly to sleep.

When we arrived at Starbucks we went in and I got Azure and Zarah each a pink cake pop. This was a partial reward for not begging for a 15-50 dollar toy at the show.

Courtney arrived about 7 minutes later and took a picture of the three of us.

I had a really great time.
