Azure Talent Show for Honor Roll Students

May 10th 2017

I left work early and stopped at a flower shop in Brownsburg to get Azure a rose for her performance. The flower shopped was closed. It was a few minutes after 5:00. I sorta begged them to let me buy a single flower. They said ok. I gave them 10.00 for it for their trouble.

I arrived at West Middle School a few minutes later. As soon as a walked into the Gym I saw Azure. She looked so pretty, I was amazed. She ran up to me and said “Daddy I’m scared”.  I said don’t be just go up there and do it just like you practiced. You will be fine. We sat together in the front row until it was almost time for the performances to start. Courtney was in the front row and was saving seats for all of us. There was a $5.00 entrance fee. But and Courtney, Missy and I got in before they started charging. Dan showed up and Missy gave me $5.00 to go get him in. A few minutes later the lights went down and the performances started.

Soon it was Azures turn.. She walked out and sat down with her guitar and the song counted off and Azure started playing guitar and singing. I was full of emotions and just wanted her to get through the thing without a disaster… aaanndd  we sorta got one right up front.

Azure’s microphone was off and she didn’t know it…. after a few measures the teacher stopped the song and came up to the stage and said… “Lets start this over Azure, You’ve worked too hard”…..

Azure told me later that this actually turned out to be a good thing for her because it allowed her to gather her thoughts better and restart the song.

During the song I was tense, and motionless while I filmed. I just kept thinking “Please let her do the whole song without a big disaster”… well she did it…The song ended and everyone clapped… I was super happy and overjoyed at Azure having the courage to take a big leap.

After the show and Everyone took their bow’s I could see the peace, and confidence in Azures face….One of the happiest moments in my life…. We were all so proud of Azure… Good Job Punkin’
