Courtney had texted me a day earlier and said that Zarah’s Kindergarten Graduation was at 11:30 on May 26th.
I left work around 11:35 and headed to Brownsburg. It is cloudy and we are having spotty rain showers. I stopped at the Walgreens in Brownburg and bought a Rose and a Wizard of Oz graduation/money card. I put 10 dollars in it.
I got to Whitelick and went to the Gymnasium. Courtney and Missy had front row seats. They saved seats for Tim and I. Courtney told me that Azure already had her graduation earlier today. She said that no one informed her or anyone about it in advance. I was not happy about missing it. Particularly since Courtney said that Azure won an award that had President Obama’s signature at the bottom of it.
Missy and I talked about my new job for a while. Then the kids came out and did several songs. Zarah got received her Diploma. Her teacher dubbed her “Spunkalicious”.
Then they did a slide show of all the kids. Of course they used “Let them be little” as the background music.
These songs get me every time I hear them. ….
They turned the lights down, and when Zarah picture appeared on the screen. I knew that I wasn’t going to be able to get through the song. That song always gets me.
I tried. I tried to be tough… I really did, but the love I felt thinking about her journey through life was just too much.. Dads know the dangers that arise from innocents. Life is about choices… We pray for our daughters to make good ones….even though we may not have……..
I handed Missy the rose and the card and asked her to give them to Zarah when it was over.
I hated to leave but I was getting emotional about my two girls growing up so fast. So I decided to leave and go back to work.
Missy sent me a photo of Zarah holding the rose. Missy said Zarah really liked the card also.
God has blessed me a million times more than I deserve… I and I know it.
